President Donald Trump returned to a familiar theme on the campaign trail Saturday, appearing in Highland Heights, Kentucky, as part of the Republican Party's midterm push and once again bringing up John Husted's physique, according to TMZ.com.
Although Husted is running for Senate in Ohio, the president devoted part of his Kentucky remarks to the candidate's rear end, telling supporters he had been unable to look away, TMZ.com reported. Trump said it was the first time he had checked out a man, and added that Husted's shoulders and jawline had also drawn his attention.
The comments follow earlier remarks in which the president said he had examined Husted's backside to confirm that the candidate was an athlete. That episode prompted criticism from Pete Buttigieg, who addressed the matter in an interview with TMZ.com.
Trump's appearance in Highland Heights came as Republicans work to mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections. Husted's Senate campaign is based in Ohio, making the Kentucky stop an unusual venue for the president's remarks about the candidate.
The president has now raised the subject on multiple occasions, suggesting the theme is likely to follow him as he continues campaigning for Republican candidates. TMZ.com published its account of Saturday's remarks at 5:33 PM PDT.
