Ring Video Captures Oregon Mother's Panic Over School Shooting

A home security camera in Oregon has captured the moment a mother learned of the deadly violence at Silver Rail Elementary School, providing a visceral record of how the shooting reverberated through the surrounding community.

The Ring footage, obtained by CNN, shows Gretchen Miller bursting from her residence and racing down the street while shouting that a shooting had occurred. According to TMZ.com, which first reported on the video, Miller repeats "Oh my god" again and again as she runs.

The recording surfaces as authorities continue to piece together the sequence of events that left four people dead, three of them children. Investigators have identified 16-year-old Griffin J. John II as the attacker who opened fire at the school. The threat ended when Kaylub Giamanco shot and killed John, according to officials.

Two of the victims have been publicly named: Meghan Lambert, a 25-year-old teacher, and Rhoam Summer, a 5-year-old student. The identities of the other two victims have not been released in the source material.

Investigators say the firearm used in the attack was bought by John's mother, Shauntai May Nickerson. Nickerson has maintained that her son was a good kid despite the shooting, according to TMZ.com.

John had previously been enrolled as a special education student at Silver Rail, the source material states. That detail may become relevant as investigators examine his history with the school.

For local families, the Ring video underscores how quickly word of the tragedy spread beyond the school grounds. The footage does not show the shooting itself but rather one parent's immediate, unfiltered response to the news — a reaction that community members across the region may recognize as the moment fear overtook their own households.
