Reality television personality Mikayla Matthews has sparked speculation about her relationship status after posting a lighthearted video featuring her husband Jace Terry, despite the couple's announced separation during the fourth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
In a TikTok video shared on Sunday, March 22, Matthews, 26, appeared eating french fries from Taco Bell while lip-syncing to an audio clip from another influencer's divorce announcement. As she mouthed the words, "I am getting a divorce," Terry, 30, walked into the frame behind her, creating an ambiguous yet playful moment that left viewers uncertain about the true state of their relationship.
Matthews captioned the post, "Sorry taco bell is my only true love," tagging her husband in the video. The couple shares four children together: Beckham, 8, Haven, 6, Tommie, 4, and eight-month-old Lottie June.
The social media post arrives as the fourth season of Mormon Wives continues to air on Hulu, having premiered earlier this month. During the season, Matthews and Terry revealed their decision to separate after ongoing intimacy challenges that first surfaced publicly during the show's third season.
"Jace and I stayed up all night talking about the pros and the cons of separating," Matthews explained in a season four confessional interview. "Between all of the MomTok drama and the pressure that I feel to get my marriage in a good place, I'm definitely reaching a breaking point. We both agreed to do a separation."
In statements provided ahead of the season premiere, Matthews acknowledged the complexity of navigating marital difficulties while managing significant health challenges. The reality star has been diagnosed with chronic inflammatory response syndrome, a condition that has added considerable strain to her personal life.
"Unfortunately for me, it's like I'm stuck in this place where my health is out of my control," Matthews stated. "I feel like I can't get anything else in my life under control once I have that under control. So it's kind of just with time and patience. I think it's something we're still working through, and we're still going to be working through for a while."
Matthews previously declined to confirm whether she and Terry remained living together, citing ongoing filming obligations that prevented her from disclosing specific details about their living arrangements. She described wrestling with questions about whether her home environment or geographic location might be contributing to her health struggles.
Over the weekend, Matthews documented a family vacation to California following a pause in production on the show's fifth season. The production halt came after fresh domestic violence allegations emerged against co-star Taylor Frankie Paul.
"It was a decision that all of us girls came up with and agreed on," Matthews explained last week regarding the production suspension. "We didn't feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening."
The Sunday TikTok video represents the latest example of Matthews using humor and social media engagement to address public curiosity about her personal life, though it leaves the actual status of her marriage deliberately unclear. Whether the playful post signals reconciliation or simply reflects co-parenting cooperation remains a question that Matthews appears content to leave unanswered for now.
