Rapper Kodak Black Surrenders on Fleeing and Resisting Charges

Rapper Kodak Black voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Broward County, Florida on Thursday, May 14, 2026, marking his second arrest in as many weeks. The artist now faces charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement as well as resisting an officer without violence, according to official jail records.

Broward County jail records indicate that Kodak Black was booked Thursday afternoon. Both charges are currently listed as pending trial, with bond set at zero dollars, meaning the rapper remains in custody without the option for immediate release.

The rapper's legal representative, Bradford Cohen, issued a statement characterizing the arrest as part of a pattern of questionable law enforcement actions against his client. Cohen stated, "This is a self surrender from yet another 'investigation' that just happened to also take 5 months to 'investigate' for allegedly fleeing and alluding."

The attorney elaborated on what he perceives as systematic targeting of the artist. "It's not unexpected, as this is usually the procedure we go through where there is an unfounded weak arrest and then followed up by yet another arrest for cases that allegedly take 5 or 6 months to investigate," Cohen explained. "At this point I think everyone agrees that Kodak is consistently being targeted."

This latest arrest follows closely on the heels of more serious allegations. Just one week prior, Kodak Black was taken into custody on alleged drug trafficking charges. According to law enforcement reports, police claimed they linked the rapper to more than 25 grams of MDMA discovered after officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two idling vehicles with Kodak Black nearby.

Following that arrest, Kodak Black posted bail in the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars and was released with strict conditions. The court ordered him to stay away from drugs, certain associates, and firearms while the case proceeds through the legal system.

Cohen has been vocal in his defense of his client regarding the drug case as well, previously calling it a "total joke" and insisting that police lacked probable cause to arrest Kodak Black. The attorney's comments suggest a legal strategy centered on challenging the validity of law enforcement procedures in both cases.

The timing of the fleeing and resisting charges raises questions about the investigation timeline. According to Cohen, the alleged incident that led to these charges occurred approximately five months ago, yet authorities only recently moved forward with formal charges. This delay forms a central component of the defense's argument that law enforcement is engaging in a pattern of questionable conduct toward the artist.

The charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement and resisting an officer without violence represent serious allegations that could carry significant legal consequences if the rapper is convicted. However, the defense appears prepared to mount a vigorous challenge to the prosecution's case, particularly regarding the circumstances and timing of the investigation.

As both cases move through the Broward County court system, the rapper faces an uncertain legal future. The combination of pending drug trafficking charges and the new fleeing and resisting charges creates a complex legal situation that will likely require extensive court proceedings to resolve. With bond set at zero dollars for the latest charges, Kodak Black remains in custody as his legal team prepares their defense strategy.
