American actor Peter Riegert took on the role of Lt. Mitch Kellaway in the 1994 comedy and action film "The Mask," playing the police lieutenant who pursues Stanley Ipkiss, also known as The Mask. He was in his mid 40s at the time of the casting.

In the film, Riegert appeared alongside Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. More than three decades after the movie's release, Riegert is now 79 years old.

The role remains one of the notable credits in a career that has spanned film, television, and stage work, and it introduced him to audiences who grew up watching "The Mask" during the 1990s.
