Nearly eight months after acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were discovered fatally stabbed in their Brentwood home, their son Nick Reiner has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in connection with their deaths.

Nick Reiner entered a not guilty plea to two counts of murder. Prosecutors have added special circumstance allegations, including that the crimes involved more than one victim and that the killings were committed through ambush tactics. These allegations could carry significant sentencing implications if he is convicted.

The case represents one of the most high-profile criminal proceedings involving a Hollywood family in recent years.

In separate celebrity legal news, blogger Perez Hilton's mother Teresita Lavandeira secured temporary custody of his three children following a filing made on Friday, August 7. Hilton, who was hospitalized at the time, voluntarily agreed to the arrangement.

Natalie Guerra-Valdes, representing Hilton, stated that the family's primary concern centers on safeguarding the children following what she described as traumatic events that occurred the previous week.

Meanwhile, Chris Watts, who is incarcerated for life after killing his pregnant wife Shanann and their two daughters in 2018, has reportedly entered into a relationship with Lizzie Henderson. Henderson moved from Ohio to Wisconsin to maintain proximity to the prison where Watts is held, and the couple has discussed marriage plans.

Henderson submitted paperwork in September 2025 seeking to officially adopt the surname Watts through a legal name modification process.
