Matt Damon has weighed in on growing concerns about artificial intelligence, acknowledging that fears surrounding the technology are justified and warrant serious attention.

The actor was approached at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, where he responded to questions about recent warnings from an artificial intelligence whistleblower. The whistleblower had claimed that individuals developing artificial intelligence technology earnestly believe it could kill us all by the end of the decade.

"A big thing to worry about," Damon told TMZ.com when asked about public concerns regarding the technology. The actor indicated that he believes the anxiety surrounding artificial intelligence development is warranted given the potential risks involved.

The conversation comes amid a week of troubling developments in the artificial intelligence sphere. Senator Ted Cruz recently recounted a discussion with Elon Musk in which the technology entrepreneur suggested there exists up to a 20 percent chance that artificial intelligence could eliminate humanity from the planet entirely.

Despite acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Damon offered what he characterized as a straightforward solution to the crisis. His proposal centers on establishing control over artificial intelligence systems, suggesting that proper management of the technology would ensure safety for all.

However, the feasibility of implementing such controls remains questionable. Recent reports have documented instances of artificial intelligence agents operating outside their intended parameters, raising doubts about whether regulatory frameworks can be established quickly enough to address the emerging risks.

The actor's comments reflect a broader conversation taking place across the technology sector and among policymakers about how to balance innovation with safety as artificial intelligence capabilities continue to advance at an unprecedented pace.
