Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes identified meeting Taylor Swift as one of his most memorable experiences during his tenure with the franchise, speaking candidly about the friendship during a local literacy event this week.

The 30-year-old quarterback addressed attendees at Lead to Read KC on Thursday, April 2, where he discussed his favorite moments as a member of the Chiefs organization. When asked about career highlights, Mahomes first cited the electric atmosphere of playing at Arrowhead Stadium before the passionate Chiefs Kingdom fanbase.

Mahomes then added a personal note, stating simply, "I got to meet Taylor Swift, that was pretty cool too."

The friendship between Mahomes and the global pop star developed after Swift began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in summer 2023. Since then, Swift has become integrated into the Chiefs community, forming close bonds with players and their families. Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, have become part of the couple's inner circle, frequently joining them for social gatherings.

Following Swift's first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2023, Mahomes offered praise for the Grammy-winning artist, describing her as "really cool" and "good people." The quarterback has maintained respect for the couple's privacy while acknowledging the positive impact Swift has had on the Kansas City community.

When Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August 2025, both Patrick and Brittany Mahomes publicly celebrated the milestone. Brittany wrote on social media that the couple represented "two of the most genuine people" and expressed happiness for their future together. Patrick reshared the announcement with multiple red heart emojis.

The friendship has extended into business ventures as well. At 1587 Prime, the steakhouse co-owned by Mahomes and Kelce, the teammates added signature cocktails honoring both Swift and Brittany Mahomes to the menu. Swift's beverage, named The Alchemy after one of her songs about Kelce, has reportedly received positive reviews from patrons.

During a September 2025 appearance on The Drive on 610 Sports Radio, Mahomes discussed the decision to create the tribute drink. "Obviously wanted to have an ode to Taylor and how important she is, not only to us but this city as well," the quarterback explained, emphasizing Swift's significance to Kansas City beyond her relationship with Kelce.

Mahomes has also demonstrated appreciation for Swift's music, predating her relationship with his teammate. The quarterback has previously stated that Swift's albums receive regular rotation in the Chiefs locker room, reflecting the broader cultural impact the artist has had on the organization.

The quarterback's comments at the literacy event underscore how Swift has become woven into the fabric of Chiefs culture, representing more than a celebrity presence at games. For Mahomes, a player who has achieved multiple Super Bowl victories and numerous individual accolades, the genuine friendship formed with Swift ranks among his most valued experiences with the franchise.
