Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky became parents earlier this summer, welcoming a baby girl through a surrogate, according to TMZ.com. The child's full legal name is Rose Bean Polansky, and she arrived on June 9 at 11:19 PM PT in Los Angeles, the outlet reported Thursday.

The reason the singer chose surrogacy has not been disclosed. However, Gaga has spoken publicly about living with fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by intense pain and fatigue. She addressed her health in the 2017 Netflix documentary "Gaga: Five Foot Two," expressing a hope that others coping with chronic pain would feel less isolated.

In a 2020 conversation with Oprah Winfrey, Gaga described being in discomfort even in the moment, telling Winfrey, "Even sitting here with you today, I'm in head-to-toe pain," as reported by TMZ.com. By 2025, she said her fibromyalgia was under control, though she still experiences what she calls "pain days."

The name Rose Bean Polansky appears to hold personal significance. Gaga has a rose tattoo on her back, a tribute to her rendition of "La Vie En Rose" in "A Star Is Born." The name Bean connects to Carl Bean, the LGBTQ+ activist whose work inspired her song "Born This Way."

Dr. Robert Katz, the OB-GYN who delivered Ciara and Russell Wilson's daughter, Sienna, delivered Rose, according to TMZ.com.

The first public glimpse of the newborn came over the weekend, when photographs surfaced showing Gaga holding the swaddled infant during a walk with Polansky. The couple, who became engaged in 2024, have maintained a low profile in recent weeks, allowing time to bond with their daughter.
