Lady Gaga has canceled her scheduled Montreal concert following a worsening respiratory infection, disappointing fans who had planned to attend the Monday evening performance at Centre Bell.
The 40-year-old performer, whose legal name is Stefani Germanotta, announced the cancellation via Instagram Story on Monday, April 6, expressing profound regret to ticket holders. The artist revealed she had been battling the respiratory illness for several days despite attempts to rest and recover between performances.
"I've been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover," the artist wrote in her statement. "And to be honest I don't think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve."
The Grammy winner indicated that her medical team strongly advised against performing, noting that her condition had deteriorated rather than improved. She acknowledged the disappointment this would cause fans who had made arrangements to attend the show.
The canceled performance was scheduled as the final Montreal date of the Mayhem Ball tour. The artist had successfully completed two previous Montreal shows at the same venue on Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3, which she described as "magical and deeply meaningful" experiences.
"To everyone who was coming tonight, I'm absolutely heartbroken and so sorry," the performer concluded in her statement to fans.
The Mayhem Ball tour represents a significant undertaking for the artist, who initially had not planned to tour in 2025. The global concert series, which commenced in Las Vegas last year, was organized rapidly by Live Nation following enthusiastic fan response to her latest album release.
The tour is scheduled to continue with performances in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on April 9 and April 10 at the Grand Casino Arena, before concluding at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 13. Whether the respiratory infection will impact these remaining dates remains unclear.
The artist has been candid about the physical and emotional challenges of touring. In a November 2025 interview, she discussed her evolving relationship with performance anxiety, acknowledging that she must now actively manage stress responses before taking the stage.
"I'm not an adrenaline junkie anymore. I used to love that feeling," she explained, describing the 90-second period before performances when she must talk herself through panic responses.
The Mayhem Ball tour features arena venues rather than stadiums, a deliberate choice the artist made to maintain greater control over theatrical elements and production details. This approach allows for what she has described as a more intimate and precisely executed performance experience.
Information regarding ticket refunds for the canceled Montreal performance has not yet been announced. Fans are advised to contact their point of purchase or monitor official channels for updates regarding reimbursement procedures.
