A domestic dispute in Harris County, Texas has resulted in the arrest of Kate Lohan, the 42-year-old stepmother of actress Lindsay Lohan, following an alleged assault on her estranged husband Michael Lohan.
Court documents confirm that Kate Lohan was booked on Tuesday, April 14, on suspicion of assaulting a family or household member with a previous conviction. The arrest occurred in Harris County, where Kate maintains a residence. She was held on a $35,000 bond ahead of an arraignment scheduled for Thursday, April 16.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Kate's Texas home during what was supposed to be a routine exchange of the couple's two children. Kate and Michael Lohan share sons Landon, 13, and Logan, 10. The altercation allegedly escalated when Kate punched Michael, resulting in a bloody nose. She also allegedly threw a steak knife during the confrontation, which reportedly bounced off Michael's chest without causing injury.
Court records indicate that Kate was allegedly intoxicated at the time of her arrest. During a bond hearing on Tuesday, a judge imposed strict conditions on her release, ordering no contact with Michael and mandating participation in alcohol testing. These measures reflect the court's concern about the volatile nature of the relationship and the need to protect all parties involved.
This latest incident represents another chapter in the troubled relationship between Kate and Michael Lohan, who have been embroiled in legal disputes since their separation in 2015. The couple married in October 2014 in what was described at the time as a small, private ceremony. However, their union quickly deteriorated, leading Kate to file for divorce in Florida in September 2018, citing that the marriage was "irretrievably broken." Despite the filing, the divorce was never finalized.
The pattern of alleged domestic violence has affected both parties. In April 2025, Michael was sentenced to nine months behind bars for violating his parole by allegedly assaulting Kate. That prison sentence stemmed from a parole violation related to his 2022 guilty plea to five counts of patient brokering in Florida, where he had referred individuals to a rehabilitation facility. Michael served time at the Palm Beach County Detention Center in Florida before being released in October 2025.
Following Michael's arrest last year, Kate addressed the situation publicly, stating: "I pray that justice prevails through the evidence the courts of Texas and Florida have due to these ongoing felony cases with no bonds. We pray for ongoing privacy during this time."
Upon his release from custody in October, Michael expressed relief at reuniting with his sons and apologized for the negative attention the legal troubles brought to his family. "I'm thankful for my early release and being reunited with my boys," he stated. "This should have never happened. It was wrong! As usual, there's a lot more to the story than what's been reported. I'm just happy to be free and I'm sorry for the negative press it has caused my family."
Michael Lohan is also father to four adult children from his marriage to ex-wife Dina Lohan: Lindsay, Michael Jr., Ali, and Cody. He shares daughter Ashley Horn with ex Kristi Kaufmann Horn. His relationship with Kate began following his 2005 separation from Dina.
The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by families dealing with domestic violence and substance abuse issues. As Kate awaits her court appearance on Thursday, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of all family members, particularly the couple's two minor children.
Representatives for both Michael and Kate Lohan have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the latest incident.
