Dakota Harper Points Finger at Ex in Arson Case

TikTok personality Dakota Harper, facing arson allegations in Charleston, West Virginia, is placing the blame for his incarceration on his former girlfriend and co-defendant, Felicity Eatmon. In an interview conducted from a West Virginia jail, Harper asserted that his legal troubles stem from his association with Eatmon rather than from his own conduct.

Harper made the remarks during a phone conversation with Los Angeles Magazine, telling the publication, "I need to stay away from Felicity. She's the reason I've been in jail ... if I stayed away from her, I would not be in any trouble." The statement, reported by TMZ.com on October 19, 2026, effectively characterizes Eatmon as a negative influence on the social media star.

The pair were taken into custody late last month in connection with allegations that they set fire to an unoccupied residence in Charleston, West Virginia. The arson accusation represents the most serious matter in a series of legal entanglements for Harper, who has drawn attention online but now faces significant criminal exposure in the Mountain State.

According to Los Angeles Magazine, Harper's record includes a 2023 truancy complaint filed after he missed school. He also faces a pending case from this past May in which he was charged with misdemeanor unlawful removal, injury to or destruction of property, along with conspiracy to inflict injury to a person or property. Those allegations predate the arson arrest and remain unresolved.

The legal pressure on Harper has intensified in recent days. A judge recently doubled his bond, raising the amount from $10,000 to $20,000, a development that suggests the court views the circumstances surrounding the arson allegation with heightened concern. The increased bond means Harper must post a substantially larger sum to secure release while the case moves forward.

For Charleston residents, the case highlights the destructive potential of vacant-property fires, which can endanger neighboring homes and strain local emergency resources. The allegations against Harper and Eatmon remain pending, and no convictions have been reported. Harper's attempt to shift responsibility to his former girlfriend is unlikely to carry legal weight, as prosecutors generally evaluate each defendant's individual conduct and intent.

Harper's public statements from jail may also draw scrutiny from the court, particularly given the pending proceedings. Legal observers note that defendants' out-of-court comments can sometimes be introduced as evidence or weighed during bond and sentencing determinations. For now, Harper remains in custody in West Virginia, with his bond set at $20,000 and the arson case against him and Eatmon still unresolved.
