Crockett Criticizes Minaj's Political Role in NYC Remarks

Representative Jasmine Crockett, the Texas congresswoman, used a Tuesday appearance in New York City to criticize Nicki Minaj's political activism, arguing that the rapper's platform is being deployed for self-serving purposes. In remarks to TMZ.com, Crockett accused Minaj of sowing hate and division while acting as a prominent voice for the MAGA movement.

Crockett, speaking to TMZ.com on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, pointed to what she characterized as a double standard: Minaj, who is not a U.S. citizen, has become a vocal supporter of President Trump's agenda while many other immigrants face detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the Trump administration. The congresswoman said the contrast raises questions about who is afforded a platform and who is not.

According to TMZ.com, Crockett was quick to condemn Minaj's political messaging, describing the rapper as focused primarily on her own interests. While Crockett disagrees with Minaj's politics, she encouraged Americans to use their voices to foster unity rather than division.

The congresswoman also called for solidarity between Muslim and Jewish communities, both in Michigan and across the country, and told TMZ.com that she remains optimistic about the nation's future. Her comments come as political tensions over immigration enforcement and celebrity political endorsements continue to draw national attention.
