Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer offered a candid assessment of quarterback Dak Prescott's current mindset during a Monday press conference, addressing the personal challenges facing his star player following a highly publicized breakup.

Speaking to reporters on March 30, Schottenheimer acknowledged the difficulty of Prescott's situation while expressing confidence in the quarterback's resilience. The 53-year-old coach revealed that he has maintained regular communication with the 32-year-old athlete during this tumultuous period.

"Dak and I have had a ton of conversations," Schottenheimer stated, according to The Dallas Morning News. "He's in a really good spot, obviously, with what he's dealing with is incredibly tough. But if anyone can handle it, he can."

The coach emphasized his commitment to staying connected with players beyond their professional responsibilities. Schottenheimer described his systematic approach to maintaining contact with team members, acknowledging that not all players respond during their personal time, which he respects.

"I try to talk to all the guys," Schottenheimer explained. "I reach out to most of them. I actually got a plan. I'm a little bit, a little, I guess, obsessive, compulsive in that regard in trying to reach out to position groups to check in."

The update comes after Prescott and his former fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, abruptly canceled their planned wedding earlier this month. The couple had been scheduled to marry on April 10 in Lake Como, Italy, and sent an apologetic email to guests explaining their decision.

"It is with heavy hearts that we privately inform our attendees that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding," the couple wrote in the email. "We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we welcome your prayers."

Prior to the announcement, Ramos, 32, appeared to hint at relationship difficulties in a March 5 Instagram post from her bachelorette party. "I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends," she wrote alongside photos with her companions.

The sudden cancellation sparked widespread speculation on social media, with various reports suggesting potential infidelity involving incognito social media profiles. Prescott has not publicly addressed these allegations.

A spokesperson for Ramos disputed rumors of a dramatic confrontation leading to the split. "There wasn't any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up," her representative told People on March 9. "It was a mutual decision."

The statement continued, emphasizing the former couple's commitment to their children: "They love their girls, and they're committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way. It's still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out."

Ramos also addressed speculation about prenuptial agreement disputes, clarifying via Instagram on March 9 that financial arrangements played no role in the breakup. "This had nothing to do with a prenup," she wrote. "I hope we can put that rumor to rest now."

The relationship timeline began publicly in November 2023 when Prescott and Ramos made their connection official on Instagram. One month later, they announced they were expecting their first child together. The couple now shares two daughters: Margaret Jane "MJ" Rose, 2, and Aurora Rayne, 10 months.

Prescott proposed in October 2024 with a 10-carat emerald cut engagement ring reportedly valued at one million dollars, marking what appeared to be a significant milestone in their relationship.

As the Cowboys organization prepares for the upcoming season, Schottenheimer's comments suggest the team remains supportive of Prescott during this challenging personal period. The coach's emphasis on maintaining open communication with players reflects a broader organizational philosophy of supporting athletes through both professional and personal challenges.
