Christina Applegate is currently hospitalized in Los Angeles, according to sources with direct knowledge of the situation. The actress was admitted in late March, though the exact reason for her stay remains unclear.
Applegate has battled multiple sclerosis since first being diagnosed in June 2021. However, it remains uncertain whether her current hospitalization is related to the disease.
When contacted for comment, Applegate's representative told TMZ: "I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She's had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast."
The hospitalization follows a March 31 announcement from Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate's co-host on the MeSsy podcast, that the show would go on a brief hiatus while both hosts were on book tours. Sigler has lived with relapsing MS for more than 20 years.
Applegate published her memoir, "You With the Sad Eyes," last month. In the book, she provides candid details about the daily effects of the disease. "When I wake up, I often can't get my arm to move far enough to grab the cup of water by my bed or my phone from its charger," she writes.
The actress also notes in her memoir that the illness makes her prone to infection, sending her to the emergency room regularly. This openness about her health struggles has characterized her public approach to living with the condition over the past five years.
The actress has maintained visibility through her podcast and recent memoir release, even as she manages the challenges associated with her diagnosis. Her willingness to discuss her medical journey publicly has provided insight into the realities of living with chronic illness while maintaining a career in entertainment.
