Carl Dean's Niece Takes Over Estate After Dolly Parton's Death

The estate of Carl Dean, the late husband of Dolly Parton, is now under new leadership following Parton's death. Court documents obtained by TMZ.com show that Dean's niece, Dea Chaggin Cunningham Williams, has been appointed to manage his finances as administrator.

Parton had initially been named administrator after Dean died on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82. However, the process was never completed because Parton was dealing with her own health issues. She died on August 25 after a battle with cancer at the age of 80, roughly 18 months after her husband's passing.

According to Dean's will, all of his assets were left to Parton. The document further stipulated that if Parton did not survive him, the estate would be divided among his five nieces and nephews as well as Parton's 14 nieces and nephews.

Among the beneficiaries is Parton's nephew Bryan Seaver, who is currently engaged in a contentious legal dispute with Parton's manager, according to TMZ.com. The inclusion of Seaver in the will adds another layer of complexity to the estate proceedings.

The appointment of Williams as administrator marks a significant step in finalizing Dean's affairs, which had been in limbo during Parton's illness. The estate now moves forward under the oversight of Dean's family, with the distribution of assets set to benefit both sides of the extended family as outlined in the will.
