Brooklyn Beckham has ignited a fierce online debate after footage surfaced showing him preparing pasta using water scooped directly from the ocean.
The 27-year-old eldest son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham shared the unconventional cooking demonstration in a TikTok video first posted in July 2025. The clip resurfaced Thursday, August 6, prompting renewed scrutiny of his culinary techniques.
"Today, I'm going to make some tomato pasta. Of course, we get some pasta water," Brooklyn said in the video before plunging a saucepan into the sea from the deck of a luxury boat. He then moved to the vessel's kitchen to continue preparing his dish.
The footage drew sharp reactions across social media platforms. Critics questioned both the safety and practicality of his approach, with one commenter writing, "Pasta water with a hint of burnt boat fuel please sir." Another sarcastically remarked, "Tune in next time when I make a glass of water (with ice)."
However, Brooklyn found defenders among viewers who appreciated his enthusiasm for cooking. "What's with all the hate?" one supporter asked, while another commented, "I think he is sweet !! And he has a passion for cooking which is clear." A third viewer assessed the final product favorably, writing, "Basic HOWEVER looks tasty to be fair."
When the aspiring chef initially posted the video in July 2025, it generated similar polarized responses. Some viewers raised health concerns about potential bacterial contamination from seawater, while others praised the finished dish. "Nice one, Brooks," one fan commented at the time.
Brooklyn frequently shares cooking videos across his social media channels, positioning himself as a culinary enthusiast despite lacking formal training.
The maritime cooking demonstration emerged as Brooklyn, alongside his wife Nicola Peltz, 31, vacationed with his godfathers Elton John, 79, and David Furnish, 63, near Nice, France. The couples were photographed together on August 1 aboard a yacht, sitting at a table and later exploring local attractions. People magazine published the images.
The vacation arrangements highlighted the ongoing rift within the Beckham family. While Brooklyn spent time with John and Furnish, his parents David, 51, and Victoria, 52, traveled separately through Spain with their other children. The retired footballer and fashion designer were joined by sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, as well as daughter Harper, 15, on their own luxury vessel. Romeo's girlfriend Kim Turnbull also accompanied the family as they explored the Spanish island of Formentera, according to photos published by The Sun.
Brooklyn publicly addressed his estrangement from his parents and siblings through a January Instagram statement. "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private," he wrote in multiple Instagram Stories. "Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."
He continued, "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life."
David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly responded to their son's accusations.
