Law enforcement body camera footage documenting Justin Timberlake's arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor was released Friday evening, providing the first visual account of the June 2024 incident that garnered national attention.

The eighteen-minute recording reveals officers administering field sobriety tests to the entertainer, who appeared confused by some instructions and struggled with certain physical tasks. At one point during the evaluation, Timberlake characterized the tests as difficult, stating, "These are, like, hard tests."

Throughout the encounter, Timberlake maintained a polite demeanor as officers conducted standard procedures, including shining a flashlight to observe his eyes and directing him to maintain forward focus. When instructed to walk in a straight line, the footage shows him stumbling multiple times before pausing to inform officers, "My heart's racing."

Officers subsequently placed Timberlake in handcuffs. A female companion who had accompanied him that evening arrived at the scene and offered to drive his vehicle. The footage concludes with images of Timberlake seated in the rear of a police vehicle behind protective barriers.

The release of this footage follows a legal dispute. Earlier this month, Timberlake filed suit seeking to prevent the video's public disclosure, arguing it constituted an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. However, he subsequently withdrew his objection, allowing the material to enter the public domain.

The Sag Harbor arrest generated widespread attention when it occurred, producing a widely circulated booking photograph and spawning numerous social media responses. The incident raised questions about celebrity accountability and impaired driving enforcement in the Hamptons community.

The case concluded in September 2024 when Timberlake entered a plea agreement with prosecutors. Rather than facing driving while intoxicated charges, he pleaded guilty to a reduced traffic violation that carried no criminal classification. The resolution resulted in minimal penalties, effectively concluding the legal proceedings with what legal observers characterized as lenient consequences.

The release of body camera footage in high-profile cases continues to generate debate regarding transparency, privacy rights, and public interest. While such recordings serve important accountability functions in law enforcement, they also raise considerations about the extent to which individuals—regardless of celebrity status—should expect privacy during police encounters.

Local authorities in Sag Harbor have not issued additional statements regarding the footage release. The video now provides the community and broader public with a comprehensive visual record of an incident that previously existed primarily through written reports and secondhand accounts.
