A beloved figure in the drag performance community is recovering from a severe health crisis that began with a seemingly ordinary meal. Victoria "PorkChop" Parker, known professionally as Victor Ray Bowling, was rushed to AV Medical Center by ambulance after consuming a frozen hamburger patty purchased from a major grocery retailer.

The 56-year-old performer experienced rapid onset symptoms within 24 hours of eating the hamburger. According to a statement released by World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul's Drag Race, Parker suffered severe vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration that persisted for 72 hours before emergency services were contacted.

During a week-long hospitalization, medical professionals conducted extensive testing and provided intensive care, including antibiotic treatment and physical therapy. Parker received multiple diagnoses: hyponatremia (an intestinal infection), acute kidney injury, atrial fibrillation, and hypertension. The performer was discharged on March 8 with strict instructions for bed rest lasting 14 to 21 days, along with prescriptions for visiting nurse care, physical therapy, and in-home support services.

Parker addressed supporters directly through a GoFundMe fundraising campaign established to assist with medical expenses and recovery needs. "After preparing a frozen hamburger patty from a major retailer, I became extremely ill," Parker wrote. "During my stay, I received intensive care, including antibiotics, dozens of tests, and the start of physical therapy."

While medical professionals expect Parker to make a full recovery, the performer faces significant challenges during the rehabilitation process. "I am slowly relearning how to walk, and ongoing physical therapy is essential to help me rebuild my strength," Parker explained in the fundraising appeal. The most pressing need identified is a medical mobility scooter, which would provide independence and allow access to outdoor spaces beneficial for both mental and physical health during recovery.

The entertainment community has rallied around Parker. World of Wonder contributed the largest single donation of $1,500 to the GoFundMe campaign, while Bianca Del Rio, winner of RuPaul's Drag Race season 6, donated $1,000. As of Friday, March 13, the fundraiser had collected $4,300 toward its $6,000 goal.

Parker holds a unique place in drag performance history as the first contestant ever eliminated from RuPaul's Drag Race when the groundbreaking competition series premiered in 2009. Despite this early exit, Parker became a fan favorite and continued building a successful career in entertainment. Recent credits include starring alongside RuPaul in the 2021 television movie "The Bitch Who Stole Christmas" and appearing in the Netflix series "AJ and the Queen."

In a heartfelt message to supporters, Parker reflected on the reversal of roles from entertainer to someone in need of assistance. "I have spent many years bringing joy to others, and now I find myself in need of support," Parker wrote. "I hope you will keep me in your thoughts and consider making a donation to help me on my road to recovery. Your generosity will mean more than words can express."

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about food safety and the potential severity of foodborne illnesses, particularly for individuals with underlying health vulnerabilities. Parker's case demonstrates how rapidly a contaminated food product can lead to life-threatening complications requiring emergency medical intervention and extended recovery periods.

World of Wonder issued a public statement encouraging continued support for Parker's recovery. "Sending all of our love to Victoria 'PorkChop' Parker, who has experienced a serious health setback and was recently hospitalized," the production company stated. "Please consider donating to Porkchop's GoFundMe to help support our legendary queen on her road to recovery."
