Aya Cash Clarifies Broadway Rehearsal Timeline Misconception

Actress Aya Cash took a moment on the 2026 Tony Awards red carpet to dispel a persistent rumor about her preparation time for the Broadway production of Giant, clarifying that widespread reports about a three-day rehearsal period omitted crucial context about her prior experience with the role.

"Let's debunk this," Cash, 43, told Us Weekly exclusively while walking the red carpet on Sunday, June 7. "I did the play in London. I had seven days of rehearsal for the play in London, and then I did a whole run."

The actress portrayed Jessie Stone at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London last year before departing to film the Prime Video series Vought Rising. When she returned to the role for the Broadway production this past March, scheduling constraints limited her preparation time significantly.

"My schedule would only allow me three days to come back to the Broadway show," she clarified to Us Weekly. "I only got three days for Broadway, but I did do the play in London. So I just want to be totally clear about that."

Cash joked that she "missed the [Vought Rising] wrap party to do my three days of rehearsal," underscoring the tight timeline between her filming commitments and the Broadway opening.

The clarification comes as Cash was nominated for a Tony Award in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play category for her work in Giant. She competed against Betsy Aidem for Liberation, Marylouise Burke for The Balusters, June Squibb for Marjorie Prime, and Laurie Metcalf, who ultimately won the award for her performance in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.

Beyond her theatrical work, Cash is preparing to reprise her role as Clara Vought/Liberty/Stormfront in the upcoming Vought Rising spinoff series, scheduled to premiere next year. The prequel series, set in the 1950s, will explore a different dimension of her character from The Boys.

"I can tell you that this cast is bonkers good. The scripts were incredible, and the action is big, and that feels very exciting," she told Us Weekly. "It was a really special experience."

The period setting will present audiences with "a totally new" perspective on her character, a prospect Cash described as both exciting and challenging. The spinoff was initially proposed years ago in response to audience reaction to Stormfront, but the prequel timeline requires a fundamentally different portrayal.

Fans of The Boys will encounter her character as "a nice little Nazi wife," a stark contrast to the persona viewers have come to recognize. "That's a very different person than who Stormfront ends up being," she added. "I think it's fun to see her journey into that."

The final season of The Boys, which concluded last month, hinted at a relationship between Cash's character and Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy, a dynamic that the prequel series will presumably explore further.
