Alexis Bledel stepped into the spotlight at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, June 6, making one of her characteristically infrequent public appearances to celebrate the world premiere of her new film Ponderosa at Village East Cinema in New York City.
The 44-year-old actress, best known for her role in Gilmore Girls, walked the red carpet in an elegant ensemble featuring a golden top with a cutout collar and bow paired with a knee-length black skirt and matching pumps. She joined writer-director Rob Rice and costar Jack Dylan Grazer for the horror-comedy's debut at the prestigious film industry gathering.
Ponderosa centers on a young man, portrayed by Grazer of Luca fame, who must fend off the advances of an eccentric older man determined to become his stepfather after his mother loses her job at a local buffet. The film also features Bill Camp, known for his work in The Queen's Gambit.
The project represents Bledel's return to cinema after a seven-year absence from feature films. Her last movie role came in 2019's crime thriller Crypto, though she continued appearing sporadically on television as Emily in The Handmaid's Tale through 2025.
Bledel's previous major public appearance occurred at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2025, where she reunited onstage with Gilmore Girls costar Lauren Graham to commemorate the beloved series' 25th anniversary. The celebration featured a replica of the Stars Hollow set, transporting fans back to the fictional Connecticut town that became a cultural touchstone.
"25 years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and apparently took the season of fall hostage," Graham, 59, joked during the segment, according to Us Weekly.
The duo reflected on the production's modest beginnings, with Graham recalling the creative solutions required by limited budgets. "If there was a birthday at The Drew Carey Show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake," Graham told Us Weekly.
"We looked hungry ... Basically we were bullied and starving," Bledel added, speaking to Us Weekly.
The pair channeled the show's signature rapid-fire dialogue style while praising their material, describing the scripts as "great," "big," and "terrifyingly lengthy." Gilmore Girls originally aired for seven seasons between 2000 and 2007 before returning as the Netflix miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016.
Graham and Bledel also presented the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series Emmy Award to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez for The Studio during the ceremony.
Before the Emmy Awards appearance, Bledel had attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation's 32nd Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party in West Hollywood, California, in March 2024. That event marked her first public outing since the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2020.
