Xander Zayas remains undeterred by doubters as he prepares for the biggest test of his professional career. The 23-year-old unified super welterweight champion will face fellow undefeated fighter Jaron "Boots" Ennis on Saturday, June 27, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with both fighters' pristine records on the line.

Critics have questioned whether Zayas possesses the experience, age, and knockout power necessary to compete at the highest level of the 154-pound division. The young champion, however, has heard such skepticism throughout his career and views it as familiar territory rather than cause for concern.

"I feel like every fight is important and I've always given that importance to every fight. Obviously, this one is a bit different because you have undefeated fighters that are well known in the boxing world and in the athletic world so I feel like it's exciting," Zayas told TMZ Sports. "A lot of fans want to see it, they want to watch this fight. Two hungry lions that are looking forward to keep making legacy and keep making history, so I'm really excited for it!"

The matchup represents a collision of unblemished records and championship aspirations. Ennis enters the bout with a formidable 35-0 record, including 31 knockouts, while Zayas brings a 23-0 mark with 13 knockouts. Despite his accomplishments as unified champion, Zayas enters as a significant underdog, with betting odds placing him at +375.

The underdog status does not faze the young champion, who has grown accustomed to exceeding expectations throughout his career. "Man, that's always been the case in my life," he explained to TMZ Sports. "I've always faced guys that are older than me, that have more experience than me, and I'm always in my head and in a way the underdog because they always say, 'Oh the young guy doesn't have that much experience.' Until we get in the ring, so at the end it comes down to June 27."

Zayas views Saturday's bout as an opportunity to silence critics definitively and establish himself as the premier fighter in the super welterweight division. "This is the fight. After I win June 27th, there's no doubt, I'm the biggest name at 154 [lbs.] I've been saying it throughout the years. Now I have to prove it," he told TMZ Sports.

The young champion brings an interesting entertainment connection to the fight week festivities. Zayas previously participated in Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show, raising speculation about potential celebrity appearances at Saturday's event. He also discussed his relationship with welterweight champion Terence "Bud" Crawford in his interview with TMZ Sports.

The highly anticipated showdown represents one of the marquee boxing events of 2026, pitting two rising stars against each other in a fight that will definitively answer questions about the division's hierarchy. When the final bell rings Saturday night in Brooklyn, one fighter's perfect record will remain intact while the other suffers the first defeat of his professional career.
