A peaceful demonstration in Waikiki escalated into violence over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of a 15-year-old boy on second-degree assault charges, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

The incident occurred Saturday night during a No Kings protest when tensions erupted between demonstrators and a man wearing attire resembling that of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Video footage captured at the scene shows the confrontation beginning when a protester threw liquid at the individual, triggering a rapid descent into physical violence.

Multiple individuals participated in the assault, with footage showing the man being forced to the ground and struck repeatedly by several attackers. The assault included kicks to the face and body. Despite sustaining visible injuries, including a bloody nose, the victim was able to stand following the attack.

The Honolulu Police Department confirmed the Saturday night incident and the subsequent arrest of the juvenile suspect. Authorities stated they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault. Police officials declined to confirm whether the victim was an actual federal agent or an individual dressed to resemble one, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

The Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the identity or employment status of the individual who was assaulted. The lack of confirmation leaves open questions about whether the victim was a federal officer performing official duties or a civilian wearing similar attire.

The incident highlights growing tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and political demonstrations in Hawaii. Second-degree assault is a Class C felony in Hawaii, carrying serious legal consequences even for juvenile offenders. The charge typically applies when an individual intentionally or knowingly causes substantial bodily injury to another person.

Authorities have not released information regarding potential additional arrests or whether other participants in the assault have been identified. The investigation remains active as police work to determine the full scope of the incident and identify all individuals involved in the attack.
