Los Angeles police have arrested singer D4vd on murder charges Thursday, April 16, in connection with the death of teenager Celeste Rivas, whose body was found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the artist seven months ago.
David Burke, the 20-year-old musician known professionally as D4vd, is being held without bail following his arrest. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the development in an official statement released Thursday.
"Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas. Burke is being held without bail," the department stated. "The case will be presented to the District Attorney's office on Monday for filing consideration."
The arrest represents a significant development in an investigation that began in September 2025, when authorities made a grim discovery at a Hollywood tow yard. Officers responding to reports of a foul odor emanating from a vehicle on the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue found human remains inside an impounded Tesla on September 8.
The vehicle had been towed from the Hollywood Hills after being reported abandoned nearly a week earlier. Investigators subsequently identified the deceased as Rivas, who had turned 15 years old the day before her body was discovered—a tragic detail that underscores the severity of the case.
At the time of the initial discovery, D4vd was on tour and did not publicly address any connection to the deceased teenager. However, a spokesperson for the artist told NBC in September that he "has been informed about what's happened. Although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."
The timing of the discovery coincided with the artist's social media activity. On September 6, two days before the body was found, D4vd posted on social media: "I start media training tomorrow guys wish me luck … " On September 8, the same day authorities discovered the remains, he promoted his upcoming album, titled Withered Deluxe: Marcescence, via Instagram.
"Every song written exclusively by me on my phone baby, this is a passion project i put together to make sure i didn't lose the raw emotional weight my music carries and how much it means to u all," D4vd wrote at the time. "Thank you to all the friends who collaborated with me on this everyone ATE THEIR VERSES UP ❤️❤️❤️."
D4vd gained recognition in the music industry for hits including "Here With Me" and "Romantic Homicide." The arrest marks a dramatic turn for the young artist, whose career had been on an upward trajectory prior to the investigation.
The case will be presented to the District Attorney's office on Monday, April 20, for consideration of formal charges. As Burke remains in custody without bail, the legal proceedings represent a critical juncture in a case that has drawn significant attention due to the defendant's public profile and the disturbing circumstances surrounding Rivas's death.
Authorities have not released additional details about the evidence linking Burke to the crime or the circumstances surrounding Rivas's death. The investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare to review the case for potential filing of formal murder charges.
