Television personality Sheryl Underwood disclosed that she attempted to reach out to Sharon Osbourne following the death of Osbourne's husband, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 76. The revelation came during Underwood's appearance on The View on Tuesday, March 10, marking a significant moment in addressing the long-standing rift between the two former colleagues.

Underwood, 62, spoke candidly about her feelings toward Osbourne, 73, despite their contentious history. "I will say this. I still believe there's some love between me and Sharon Osbourne. I tried to reach out when Ozzy passed," Underwood stated. "I love her. Sometimes you find out, your coworkers, your colleagues … you hope that it doesn't get as big. I'm going to be honest with you, you don't sit next to somebody for that amount of time and don't have no love."

Ozzy Osbourne died from cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson's disease. The music legend's passing prompted Underwood to attempt contact with his widow, though she acknowledged hesitation in leaving a voicemail. "I was afraid to leave a voicemail because in the business we're in, your voicemail will show up somewhere or be misunderstood," Underwood explained, highlighting the challenges of private communication in the entertainment industry.

The relationship between Underwood and Osbourne fractured in 2021 during an on-air confrontation on The Talk, the daytime television program where both women served as cohosts. The dispute centered on comments regarding Meghan Markle and allegations of racial mistreatment within the British royal family. The incident escalated when Osbourne publicly supported television personality Piers Morgan, who had been vocally critical of Markle's claims.

Underwood recounted the origins of the disagreement during her View appearance. "What happened, when you start talking about Meghan Markle, I said to Piers [Morgan] when he came on the show, and to Sharon, 'Ya'll got to get off Meghan Markle.' We will not let you drag her because her mama is from Windsor Hills. Meghan is in Windsor Palace," Underwood recalled. Morgan, 60, had positioned himself as a defender of the royal family during the controversy.

Reflecting on the incident, Underwood acknowledged that both parties could have handled the situation differently. "I sat next to her [Sharon] for years and I do believe that when she's hurt, she's really hurt and maybe there's some things that both of us could've done differently," Underwood said. "I believe that what really happened to me, I had gotten into a couple of problem discussions on The Talk … and God let me live to correct some of the things that I said."

Underwood expressed openness to a public reconciliation, suggesting that a mediated conversation could help resolve lingering tensions. "I haven't done everything right but if somebody could pull us together … Howard Stern, pull us together. Ya'll, pull us together," she said, addressing The View hosts.

The aftermath of the 2021 confrontation included an apology from Osbourne to Underwood via text message. However, Osbourne later stated during a 2024 podcast appearance on The Sage Steele Show that she "didn't want to" apologize. Osbourne told former ESPN anchor Sage Steele that she felt pressured by family members to make amends. "I felt I didn't do anything wrong. But my kid said to me, 'Just apologize to her. Maybe you're wrong and she read you wrong or something, just in case, apologize.' And I did. I apologized to her. I called her. She wouldn't pick up my calls and then she lied and said I never apologized. I have it all documented on my phone," Osbourne claimed.

The conflicting accounts of communication between the two television personalities underscore the complexity of their fractured relationship. Underwood's recent attempt to reach out following Ozzy Osbourne's death suggests a willingness to move beyond past grievances, though whether reconciliation will occur remains uncertain. The public nature of their dispute and subsequent commentary has made their professional relationship a subject of ongoing interest within the entertainment industry.
