Sheri Easterling Files for Sole Custody of Son Following Ex-Husband's Felony Arrest

Sheri Easterling has filed court documents seeking sole custody of her minor son as part of ongoing divorce proceedings with her ex-husband, Monty Lopez. The legal action comes in the wake of Lopez's arrest on felony obscenity charges in July 2025, and the custody petition includes detailed allegations of domestic violence and abuse spanning nearly two decades.

Easterling, who is the mother of social media influencer and singer Addison Rae, submitted the custody petition as part of divorce proceedings with Lopez. The couple's marital history is complex, having originally married in 2002, divorced, and subsequently remarried in 2017. Court documents list their most recent marriage date as January 18, 2018. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022.

Custody Request and Allegations

In her petition, Easterling identifies one minor child shared with Lopez, born in 2013. She has requested that the court establish Lopez as the biological father while appointing her as the primary caretaker with sole custody. The filing recommends that Lopez be granted only supervised visitation rights with the child.

The custody documents contain serious allegations of domestic abuse. According to the petition, incidents date back to 2005, when Easterling claims Lopez began using degrading language toward her, calling her "worthless trash" and stating that "no one likes her." The filing alleges that when she refused to engage with such behavior, Lopez physically assaulted her by grabbing her around the neck, pushing her onto a bed, and squeezing her neck while verbally abusing her.

The petition also alleges that Lopez struck their daughter Addison across the face with an open hand in 2008 after she talked back to him. Additional allegations from 2018 describe an incident in which Lopez allegedly became angry after Easterling declined a sexual advance, telling her it was her "duty" to comply. The filing claims he subsequently assaulted her with a pillow, holding it over her face and restricting her breathing.

Pattern of Alleged Abuse

The court documents describe a 2020 incident in which Lopez allegedly became enraged and began yelling at Easterling in front of family members. When she attempted to record the altercation, the petition states that Lopez followed her into a bathroom where he continued to berate her, making threatening gestures and physically striking her on the legs and buttocks. The filing further alleges that Lopez spat in her face on multiple occasions and regularly called her "ugly" and "gross."

More recently, on October 29, 2025, Easterling claims Lopez appeared at her residence and violently banged on the door, demanding that everyone come outside to meet his new wife. The petition states that Easterling contacted law enforcement in response to this incident.

Criminal Charges and Substance Abuse Allegations

The custody petition references Lopez's arrest on July 27, 2025, on a felony charge related to indecent exposure, which court documents classify as a sex crime. Additionally, Easterling has alleged that Lopez has struggled with alcohol abuse and has been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence.

In her filing, Easterling is seeking sole custody of their minor son as well as child support from Lopez. The former couple shares three children together: Addison, who has achieved fame as a social media influencer and singer, and two sons, Enzo and Lucas.

The custody case remains pending in family court. These allegations have not been proven in court, and Lopez has not publicly responded to the claims outlined in the petition. The legal proceedings will determine custody arrangements and visitation rights for the minor child.
