Jessa Duggar has issued a public statement condemning her brother Joseph Duggar following his arrest on child molestation charges, calling the alleged actions a "profound wrong" in a message posted to social media on Thursday, April 2.

"We learned, along with the rest of the world, of the heartbreaking news involving my brother, Joseph, and we are deeply grieved," the 33-year-old wrote in an Instagram Story. "Our hearts ache for this innocent young girl and the harm she has suffered."

Joseph Duggar, 31, was arrested by the Tontitown Police Department in Arkansas on March 18 following allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. The former reality television personality, known for his appearances on the TLC series '19 Kids and Counting,' faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old, as well as lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.

Two days after his initial arrest, Joseph Duggar appeared in court virtually and waived his right to an extradition hearing. On Tuesday, March 31, after being extradited to Florida, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges. He was subsequently released from custody after posting a $600,000 bond.

The case has expanded beyond the initial molestation charges. Joseph Duggar's wife, Kendra Duggar, 27, was arrested on March 20 and released on $1,470 bond. Both Joseph and Kendra face four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Kendra Duggar's arrest stemmed from a home study conducted after her husband's molestation charge. Investigators reportedly discovered two rooms in the family's residence where door locks were installed on the outside rather than the inside, which authorities interpreted as evidence of wrongful detention of children. The couple, who married in 2017, share four children ranging in age from 4 to 7 years old.

In her most recent statement, Jessa Duggar emphasized the religious and moral dimensions of the allegations. "This is a profound wrong, and we know it grieves the heart of God, who cares deeply for the children and vulnerable," she wrote. "We are lifting her up in prayer, asking for comfort, healing and justice."

This marks the second time Jessa Duggar has publicly addressed the scandal. She initially released a statement on March 20, which has since been deleted, calling the allegations "saddening news." That statement, written jointly with her husband Ben Seewald, expressed similar sentiments of grief for the alleged victim.

Other members of the Duggar family have also spoken out. Jill Duggar, sister to both Jessa and Joseph, was among the first family members to publicly condemn the alleged actions. "We strongly condemn abuse. We support the rule of law and hope that justice will be achieved," she wrote on social media in March. She and her husband Derick Dillard added that their "hearts go out to the innocent juvenile victim of this unspeakable crime and her family."

The Duggar family gained national prominence through their reality television series '19 Kids and Counting,' which chronicled the lives of parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children. The family has faced previous legal troubles. Josh Duggar, another sibling, was sentenced to 151 months in prison in December 2021 following a child pornography conviction, making Joseph the second Duggar son to face incarceration.

The case against Joseph Duggar continues to develop as the legal process moves forward. The allegations date back six years to an incident that allegedly occurred during a family vacation, raising questions about the timeline of the investigation and the factors that led to charges being filed in 2026 for an incident from 2020.
