Reality Star CT Tamburello Faces Child Support Court Battle

Reality television personality Chris "CT" Tamburello is facing renewed legal action from his former spouse, who alleges he has violated terms of their divorce settlement by failing to provide required health insurance coverage for their child.

Lilianet Solares filed court documents seeking to modify their existing child support arrangement, claiming that Tamburello has not provided health insurance for their son, Christopher Solares, despite court orders requiring him to do so. The legal filing represents a significant development in the ongoing financial arrangements between the former couple.

The couple finalized their divorce in November 2023, with the settlement requiring Tamburello to pay $761 per month in child support. Additionally, the reality star was ordered to pay $332 for each week he cannot exercise parenting time due to work obligations. The former spouses share joint custody of their son under the current arrangement.

According to the court filing, the original child support calculation was based on the assumption that Tamburello would provide health insurance coverage for their child. Solares now asserts that he has failed to maintain this coverage for three years, fundamentally altering the financial equation that determined the support amount.

The absence of employer-provided or privately purchased health insurance can significantly impact family finances, as medical expenses, prescription costs, and routine healthcare visits become out-of-pocket expenditures. When one parent is court-ordered to provide such coverage and allegedly fails to do so, the other parent often bears unexpected financial burdens that were not contemplated in the original support calculation.

Solares is requesting that the court recalculate the child support obligation to account for the alleged three-year period without health insurance coverage. Such recalculations typically consider the additional costs borne by the custodial parent and may result in increased monthly support payments or reimbursement for past medical expenses.

Tamburello, known for his appearances on MTV's long-running competition series "The Challenge," has not yet filed a response to the legal action. The reality star has been a fixture on the program for multiple seasons, earning income from his television appearances and related entertainment ventures.

Family law experts note that compliance with divorce decrees is legally binding, and failure to adhere to court-ordered provisions can result in enforcement actions, modification of support amounts, or other legal consequences. Courts generally take violations of child support and insurance provisions seriously, as they directly impact the welfare of minor children.

The case highlights the ongoing complexities that can arise in post-divorce arrangements, particularly when employment circumstances, insurance availability, or compliance issues emerge. As the legal proceedings continue, the court will need to determine whether the allegations have merit and what adjustments, if any, should be made to the existing support structure.
