Lafayette police responded to a residence in the city Thursday afternoon after receiving a mental health complaint from inside the home, according to Lafayette Police Spokesperson Sgt. Robin Green.
Video footage obtained by media outlets shows multiple police vehicles parked outside the home of Monty Lopez, located in Lafayette, Louisiana. The officers arrived at the scene just after 4 PM Thursday, with the vehicles lined up along the curb outside the residence.
The footage shows no officers visible outside the property, suggesting law enforcement was handling the situation inside the home. Sgt. Green confirmed that the call originated from someone inside the residence.
Law enforcement sources indicated there is an active investigation into the matter, though officials declined to provide additional details about the nature of the mental health complaint or the outcome of the response.
Mental health calls have become an increasingly significant component of modern policing, with departments across Louisiana and the nation implementing specialized training and crisis intervention teams to handle such situations. These calls require officers to balance public safety concerns with appropriate mental health support and de-escalation techniques.
The incident comes as Lopez faces separate legal proceedings. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office arrested him on July 27, 2025, on charges that he "expos[ed] his genitals, pubic hair, in a public place or place open to public view" in 2024. Lopez has pleaded not guilty to that charge, and the case remains active in the court system.
Lopez is the father of social media influencer Addison Rae, though the Thursday incident appears unrelated to his daughter's public profile. Attempts to reach Lopez for comment on the police response have not been successful.
The Lafayette Police Department has not released additional information about the mental health call or whether any individuals were transported for evaluation or treatment. The investigation remains ongoing.
