The Franklin Police Department has confirmed it is actively investigating allegations of phone hacking made by actress Kirsten Storms, according to reports published Thursday, April 30.
A representative for the Franklin Police Department in Tennessee confirmed the ongoing investigation to media outlets, stating: "I can confirm that there is an active investigation as it pertains to her case."
The 42-year-old actress, known for her role on the long-running soap opera General Hospital, initially made the phone hacking claim through an Instagram post shared on April 9. The nature of the alleged compromise and any potential suspects have not been publicly disclosed by authorities.
The investigation unfolds against a backdrop of complex legal proceedings involving Storms and her former husband, Brandon Barash. The 46-year-old actor was recently granted a restraining order amid concerns regarding Storms' mental health and their 12-year-old daughter, Harper Rose's well-being.
Barash, who was married to Storms from 2013 to 2016, filed for an emergency restraining order after claiming the actress was exhibiting concerning behavior. In legal documents, he alleged there were "repeated episodes of melting down, being triggered, hearing things/voices that weren't there."
According to the filing, Barash's concerns intensified after both parties moved separately to Tennessee following their divorce. The legal papers cite "instability with housing" as a "recurring theme" for Storms, including a lawsuit filed by her landlord seeking eviction.
In his request to the court, Barash asked that Storms undergo a mental health evaluation. Under current court orders, Storms is permitted supervised visitation with their daughter. A judge is scheduled to review the status of the restraining order at a future hearing.
The actress announced in July 2025 that she was stepping back from General Hospital, where she had portrayed the character Maxie intermittently since 2005. In her announcement, Storms cited both health and personal issues as reasons for her departure from the Los Angeles-based production.
Storms revealed she had undergone a medical procedure during which doctors discovered an aneurysm on the right side of her brain. "I had a procedure done that weekend, where the doctor [threaded] a camera from my leg up to my brain," she explained in her social media post.
The actress connected her health challenges to stress and explained her decision to relocate from Los Angeles. "It was clear I needed [to] change some things in my life ASAP. For my personal reasons, no longer living in Los Angeles was very important to me. The biggest reason for the move was Harper, but a lot of it was for my physical and mental health, and my overall happiness," Storms stated.
The Franklin Police Department has not released additional details regarding the scope or timeline of the phone hacking investigation. Storms has not publicly commented on the investigation since the department's confirmation.
