Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offered an unconventional take on what kind of welcome President Donald Trump might receive when he attends Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, suggesting that ticket prices could play a decisive role in shaping the atmosphere.

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill on Monday, the New York Congresswoman declined to predict whether the president would face cheers or boos. Instead, she pointed to the staggering cost of Finals tickets as a factor that could determine the composition of the crowd inside the arena.

Ocasio-Cortez argued that the prohibitive ticket prices mean the audience may not accurately represent the average New Yorker. She further connected those elevated costs to Trump's economic policies, though she did not elaborate on the specific connection in the brief exchange with reporters.

Before addressing the president's anticipated appearance, Ocasio-Cortez joined in on a viral Knicks rallying cry that has circulated widely online: "My mayor is Muslim, my bagel is Jewish, my Christian's Dior ... Knicks in 4!"

The Congresswoman's comments add to a growing chorus of prominent New York voices weighing in on Trump's planned attendance at the championship series. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries questioned earlier Monday whether the president has a pattern of making major events about himself.

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith also criticized the visit during "First Take," arguing that the president has no business creating extra chaos in Midtown on one of the biggest nights in New York sports.

The debate over Trump's appearance highlights the intersection of politics and sports in a city where both command intense public attention. Whether Knicks fans will focus on basketball or politics remains to be seen, though Ocasio-Cortez's observation about ticket affordability suggests the crowd demographics may offer their own answer to that question.

Game 3 will provide the first opportunity to gauge the reception Trump receives as the Finals come to Madison Square Garden, one of the most iconic venues in professional sports.
