Mindy Cohn has emerged victorious from another cancer battle, the actress revealed in a candid social media post that explained her recent absence from public view.
The "Facts of Life" star shocked fans by disclosing that she had been secretly fighting cancer again, addressing her disappearance from social media with characteristic directness. In a raw, all-lowercase Instagram post, Cohn told followers she had been "off social media for awhile 'cuz i had to go kick cancer's ass." According to the actress, she has successfully completed treatment.
Cohn expressed profound gratitude for her medical team at Providence Saint John's in Santa Monica, singling out oncology surgeon Dr. Anton Bilchik, whom she called her "hero." She also acknowledged her nurses by name and thanked her close friends, describing them as her ride-or-dies who step up whenever it is "my turn."
While the actress has clearly endured a difficult medical journey, she indicated that recovery is progressing. Cohn stated she has a couple more weeks of recovery ahead before preparing for her "next adventure." Her message concluded with a defiant sign-off: "onwards! F**K Cancer!"
This marks the second time Cohn has confronted the disease. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 after experiencing extreme fatigue during a walk around her Los Angeles neighborhood. In a 2017 People interview, she described that moment as the beginning of a long, grueling journey.
Over five years following her initial diagnosis, Cohn underwent radiation, chemotherapy, and ultimately a double mastectomy before being declared cancer-free and returning to work in Hollywood.
Prior to her recent revelation, fans last saw Cohn on Instagram in mid-March, appearing alongside fellow actress Melissa Peterman. The photograph showed no indication of the medical battle occurring behind the scenes.
The actress's decision to keep her latest cancer fight private until after treatment underscores the deeply personal nature of health battles, even for public figures. Her announcement serves as a reminder of the resilience required to face such challenges and the importance of strong medical and personal support systems.
