Drew Dodson, the man at the center of cheating allegations involving reality television star Steven McBee Jr. and his girlfriend Allie Eklund, has publicly addressed the controversy for the first time. In a statement posted to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, April 29, Dodson denied any inappropriate behavior and characterized the situation as a misunderstanding that spiraled out of control on social media.
"I wasn't planning on addressing this, but since it's been brought online and kinda of taken on a life of its own, I feel like I should say something," Dodson wrote. "I was at Stagecoach with a big group of friends including someone I've known for years."
The statement comes amid a public dispute that erupted following the Stagecoach country music festival, which was held from April 24 to 26. Dodson explained that his attendance at the event was innocent and that he was merely "enjoying the night like everyone else" before becoming unwittingly entangled in public accusations.
"Somewhere along the way, that got turned into public accusations about both of us without any conversation or attempt to actually understand what happened," Dodson continued in his statement. "I'm not here to go back and forth or fuel anything. The reality is simple I was there with friends, nothing more."
Dodson emphasized his desire to move past the controversy, stating he is simply trying to "clear the air and keep it moving." He concluded his statement with: "That's all I have to say on it. 🌯 regardless."
The controversy began earlier this week when McBee, 33, publicly accused Eklund, 29, of cheating on him after he departed Stagecoach one day early. The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys star took to Instagram on Monday, April 27, to share his allegations with followers.
"Left a day early because I have real responsibilities. Just got two other calls about this situation as well," McBee wrote. "Damn, embarrassing to put this out there but figured there's no reason to gatekeep. Random dm, two phone calls and a video. Unreal. When someone shows you who they are … listen."
According to McBee, he received messages and videos purportedly showing Eklund in compromising situations with Dodson. In a since-deleted social media video, McBee elaborated on the allegations: "I still don't know exactly what happened. I just know there was handholding, grinding, dancing, drunken stupor at an afterparty."
Eklund responded to the accusations on Monday through her own Instagram Story, denying the allegations and expressing disappointment that McBee chose to air the matter publicly before discussing it privately with her.
"This is really sad to see, and I'm genuinely at a loss for words," Eklund wrote. "Posting everything online before we talked is extremely disheartening and extremely unfair, considering l've protected Steven many times during the course of our relationship."
The couple, who have been dating since 2025, made their public debut at BravoCon 2025. The relationship drama now playing out on social media represents a significant shift from their previously private approach to their personal lives.
With Dodson's statement now public, all three parties involved have addressed the allegations. Whether this marks the end of the public dispute or merely another chapter in the ongoing saga remains to be seen. What is clear is that the incident highlights the challenges of maintaining privacy in an era where festival attendees can become unwitting participants in viral controversies through social media posts and allegations.
