Rapper Da Brat has delivered a sharp response to Representative Andy Ogles following the Tennessee congressman's controversial social media post claiming homosexuality has no place in America. The artist made her position clear during a recent encounter at Los Angeles International Airport, where she and her wife addressed the Republican lawmaker's subsequent explanation for the inflammatory statement.

According to TMZ, Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart, were asked about Ogles telling TMZ DC that the anti-gay post was actually shared by a staffer rather than by the congressman himself. Da Brat appeared unconvinced by this explanation, characterizing such comments as the type nobody wants to claim responsibility for once public backlash ensues.

The rapper did not mince words in her assessment of the post. She called the statement on the Republican's account "dumb as f***," speaking to TMZ. Her wife Harris-Dupart emphasized that LGBTQ+ individuals are not disappearing simply because others disapprove of their existence.

Da Brat's remarks included what appeared to be sardonic commentary on those who hold homophobic views, stating she feels sorry for them. The statement reflects the couple's broader stance on intolerance during what has become an increasingly contentious political climate surrounding LGBTQ+ rights.

Beyond addressing the controversy, Da Brat and Harris-Dupart discussed ways allies can support the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month. The couple, who have been public about their relationship, also promoted their book "The Way Love Goes," which chronicles their partnership.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between LGBTQ+ advocates and certain political figures who have made statements or taken positions perceived as hostile to the community. Representative Ogles' attempt to distance himself from the post by attributing it to staff has done little to quell criticism from those who view such rhetoric as harmful regardless of its origin.

Da Brat's willingness to speak directly about the issue reflects a broader trend of public figures in the entertainment industry using their platforms to challenge anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment. Her response underscores the reality that such statements carry consequences in an era where social media amplifies both controversial posts and the backlash they generate.
