Actress Blake Lively has publicly responded to a federal judge's recent ruling that dismissed portions of her sexual harassment lawsuit against director Justin Baldoni, declaring her determination to continue the legal battle despite the setback.

On Thursday, a judge ruled that certain sexual harassment claims filed by Lively could not proceed to a jury trial. However, the court allowed her retaliation allegations to move forward, a development Lively characterized as preserving the core of her case.

In a lengthy statement posted to social media, the actress expressed gratitude for the portions of her lawsuit that survived judicial scrutiny. She emphasized that her legal action centers primarily on alleged retaliation she faced after requesting workplace safety measures.

"The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive RETALIATION I faced, and continue to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others," Lively wrote in her statement.

The lawsuit stems from Lively's work on the film "It Ends With Us," in which Baldoni served as director. The actress has alleged that she faced professional consequences after raising concerns about workplace conditions during production.

Lively framed her legal pursuit as part of a broader effort to protect women in the entertainment industry who face similar challenges. She indicated that her willingness to pursue litigation stems from a sense of responsibility to use her platform for systemic change.

"I will never stop doing my part in fighting to expose the systems and people who seek to harm, shame, silence and retaliate against victims," the actress wrote. "I know it's a privilege to be able to stand up. I will not waste it."

Lively concluded her statement with a dragon emoji, a symbol that has garnered attention in legal filings. Court documents have referenced text messages in which Lively allegedly referred to her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, and musician Taylor Swift as her "dragons," suggesting the emoji may represent her support network or her combative stance in the litigation.

The partial dismissal of her harassment claims represents a legal victory for Baldoni, though the survival of the retaliation allegations ensures the case will proceed to trial. Legal experts note that retaliation claims can be particularly significant in employment disputes, as they address the consequences individuals face for reporting workplace concerns rather than the underlying conduct itself.

The case has drawn considerable attention within the entertainment industry, where workplace safety and power dynamics have become subjects of intense scrutiny in recent years. Lively's public statement suggests she views the litigation as extending beyond her personal experience to address broader patterns of alleged misconduct and retaliation in Hollywood.

As the case moves forward, both parties are expected to engage in discovery and prepare for trial on the remaining claims. The timeline for proceedings has not been publicly disclosed.
