An Arkansas woman has taken extraordinary financial measures to secure her husband's release from custody, converting her family home into a rental property and liquidating personal assets to meet a substantial bond requirement.

Kendra Duggar, 27, listed family property for sale and prepared to vacate her residence to transform it into a rental unit following the arrest of her husband, Joseph Duggar, 31, last month in Washington County, Arkansas. The couple discussed their financial strategy during a March 25 jail phone call from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, according to audio recordings.

During the recorded conversation, the couple identified multiple items for immediate sale, including most of their trailers, a four-wheeler, a pressure washer, a waterproof tarp, and a wood splitter. Kendra Duggar simultaneously began relocating belongings from the family home to prepare the property for rental occupancy, aiming to generate ongoing income from the residence.

The financial scramble followed Joseph Duggar's arrest on March 19 in Arkansas on serious criminal charges. Authorities charged him with lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older. The charges stem from allegations made by a 14-year-old girl who accused Joseph Duggar of molesting her when she was 9 years old during a 2020 vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida.

Joseph Duggar was extradited to Florida earlier this week, where he entered a not guilty plea. He was subsequently released after posting $600,000 bail, a sum that appears to have necessitated the significant asset liquidation undertaken by his wife.

In separate jail phone conversations, Kendra Duggar demonstrated concern about the costs associated with her husband's incarceration. Upon learning that phone calls from the facility carried charges, she asked Joseph Duggar whether he required additional funds. He explained that he initially had $60 available for phone and other privileges, determined by the cash in his wallet when he was booked at Washington County. He indicated the funds would be used exclusively for phone calls.

The molestation case represents only a portion of the legal challenges facing the couple. Both Joseph and Kendra Duggar face four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment in separate, unrelated proceedings. Authorities have not disclosed details connecting these additional charges to the molestation allegations.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the allegations and the substantial bond amount required for Joseph Duggar's pretrial release. The conversion of a family residence into income-generating property and the liquidation of personal assets illustrate the financial strain that can accompany serious criminal proceedings.

Representatives for the Duggar family have not responded to requests for comment regarding the financial arrangements or the pending criminal cases.
