Joseph Duggar, a former cast member of the reality television program Counting On, provided detailed accounts of his experience in custody at the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas during recorded telephone conversations with his wife, Kendra Duggar.

During multiple phone calls obtained through public records, the 31-year-old described challenging conditions during his detention, including sleep disruption and noise disturbances from other inmates. According to the recordings, Duggar told his wife that excessive noise made it difficult to rest or concentrate during his time in the facility.

"I felt like [the] past two nights, like not last night, but the two nights before that, there [were] people up all night, and it was really loud and stuff, but so I didn't get good sleep," Duggar stated in one conversation. "So yesterday was a little bit more miserable."

He further elaborated that while daytime hours could be busy, the overall experience felt "rough." Duggar compared the noise levels from adjacent cells to being struck by a jackhammer, stating, "Sometimes I can't even hear myself think whenever they're next door."

In subsequent calls with his wife, who is 27 years old, Duggar described incidents involving other inmates that he characterized as tantrums. He claimed one individual exhibited disruptive behavior throughout an entire day and into the night, with staff attempting to deescalate the situation for extended periods. Duggar stated he attempted to focus on reading religious texts during these disturbances.

Serious Criminal Charges

Duggar was arrested in Arkansas on March 19 and faces grave criminal allegations. He has been charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old, as well as lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older. The charges stem from allegations made by a victim who reported that Duggar molested her when she was nine years old during a 2020 vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida. The victim was 14 years old when she came forward to law enforcement authorities.

Following his initial arrest in Arkansas, Duggar was extradited to Florida earlier this week to face the charges. He entered a plea of not guilty and was subsequently released after posting bail set at $600,000.

In a separate matter unrelated to the molestation allegations, both Joseph Duggar and Kendra Duggar face additional criminal charges. Each has been charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment.

The Duggar family gained national prominence through their reality television programs, which documented their large family and conservative religious lifestyle. The family has faced multiple legal controversies in recent years involving various family members.

The criminal proceedings against Joseph Duggar are ongoing, and the legal process will determine the outcome of all charges filed against him and his wife.
