A Los Angeles County judge has granted an emergency restraining order against actress Kirsten Storms following a petition filed by her ex-husband Brandon Barash, who alleges the soap opera star is experiencing a severe mental health crisis that threatens their daughter's safety.
According to court documents obtained on Monday, April 27, 2026, Barash—who also appeared on "General Hospital"—detailed a troubling pattern of behavior that has escalated over the past year. The former couple, who relocated separately to Tennessee following their divorce, share a 12-year-old daughter.
The court filings paint a concerning picture of instability. Barash stated that from September 2024 until June of 2025, Storms never maintained a permanent residence, instead rotating between friends' homes and hotels. He alleged she frequently changed hotels because she believed people were "following her and the child to her room."
The housing difficulties appear to have persisted. Barash noted that Storms' landlord sued her for eviction, describing "instability with housing has been a recurring theme" for his ex-wife. He also claimed her vehicle is facing repossession and that he loaned her $5,000 which remains unpaid—financial struggles he finds particularly troubling given Storms' well-established career with recurring roles on multiple soap operas since the late 1990s.
The most alarming allegations center on Storms' mental state. On May 19, 2025, according to the court documents, Storms contacted Barash to report she was "experiencing delusions and hallucinations" and stated she "didn't think she should have the child for her parenting time." Barash's current wife assisted in getting Storms admitted to a hospital, where she was placed on a psychiatric hold. Following her release, Barash claimed Storms behaved as though nothing had occurred.
The concerning incidents continued. In November 2025, Barash alleged Storms called him claiming people were breaking into her apartment, removing items and placing them in her car to "mess with her." Additionally, one of Storms' friends reportedly told Barash she believes the actress is abusing Adderall and possibly other substances, with "repeated episodes of melting down, being triggered, hearing things/voices that weren't there."
This past weekend, Storms posted a video on social media claiming she had been hacked, though the context of this statement remains unclear in relation to the ongoing legal proceedings.
Barash has requested the court mandate that Storms undergo a mental health evaluation, though it remains uncertain whether such an assessment has taken place. Under the current restraining order, Storms is permitted only supervised visitation with their daughter. The judge is scheduled to review the status of the restraining order later this week.
Storms, known for her long-running role on "General Hospital," has not responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations and court proceedings. The case highlights the complex intersection of mental health challenges, parental custody concerns, and the pressures faced by public figures navigating personal crises.
