A non-binary actor with prominent television credits has initiated legal action against a Manhattan hotel, alleging harassment and discrimination stemming from a bathroom incident at a private event.

Wesley Han, recognized for their work in 'Power Book II: Ghost,' has sued the Soho Grand Hotel following an encounter that they describe as humiliating and discriminatory. According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the incident occurred when Han was attending a private event at the establishment.

The complaint alleges that Han, who was dressed in women's clothing, attempted to use the women's restroom when they were confronted by a security guard. According to the lawsuit, the guard asked women in the foyer, 'Excuse me ladies, have you seen a man enter?'

Despite being told no, Han alleges the security guard entered the restroom and prevented them from washing their hands. The lawsuit claims the guard then escorted Han to the men's restroom, creating what Han describes as a humiliating walk of shame in front of other event attendees.

The incident raises significant questions about how hospitality establishments accommodate non-binary individuals and whether current policies adequately protect guests from discrimination based on gender identity. New York City has robust anti-discrimination laws that include protections for gender identity and expression, making this case particularly noteworthy in the ongoing conversation about transgender and non-binary rights.

Beyond their role in 'Power Book II: Ghost,' Han has built a diverse acting portfolio that includes appearances on 'Russian Doll' and 'Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens,' as well as a film role in 'Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin.' Their visibility as a non-binary performer in mainstream entertainment adds weight to the allegations and may draw broader attention to discrimination issues facing gender-nonconforming individuals in public accommodations.

The lawsuit seeks damages for the humiliation and emotional distress Han claims to have suffered as a result of the incident. Such cases often hinge on whether the establishment had adequate training protocols for staff regarding gender identity issues and whether the actions taken were reasonable under the circumstances.

The Soho Grand Hotel has not responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations. As the legal proceedings move forward, the case may set important precedents for how hotels and other public venues handle similar situations involving non-binary and transgender guests.
